Go West Young Man

I woke up refreshed from my snooze at the Inn. Recalling my duty, I proceeded with all haste to the Westbrook Garrison to meet up with Deputy Rainer and found out what the status was on the gnoll situation. As I approached the tower, I noticed a sign with a rough sketch of the ugliest looking figure I had ever seen. I soon realized that it wasn't a human I was staring at, but a big fat gnoll. Above the portrait were written the words, "WANTED: Hogger". Curious about this I went up to the tower entrance and presented myself to Rainer. He explained to me that the land south and west of the garrison was overrun with gnolls and it seemed like the ones to the south were lead by a beefy gnoll they all called Hogger. Having not received much in terms of reinforcements from Stormwind the deputy resolved to ask my help in dealing with the growing threat. Excited at the prospect of testing my mettle against such vile beasts, I rushed on south across the road and confronted the first gnoll I could find, ordering him to tell me where I could find his leader. You probably know what his response was. Well, not only was it unintelligible but him coming at me swinging his scimitar was enough of an answer to me. I disposed of him immediately, and proceeded to a larger encampment, thinking I would have better luck there.
As I approached a small camp with four gnolls busying themselves around a campfire, I raised my hammer and prepared for another threatening speech. Before the first syllable hit my lips all four gnolls jumped up and came charging at me. I immediately settled into a more defensive position and went about hammering away, when a strange bolt of energy came wizzing by me and struck one of the gnolls silly. I took a brief glance backwards thinking the bolt had been meant for me and missed me by an inch, but a second bolt came flying by finishing the gnoll off. Then I realized the attacks were intended for my foes, and that the beautiful young lady in front of me was an ally of sorts. I say of sorts, because while she was a beautiful woman she had the most peculiar companion. Indeed standing next to her, dancing around in a fit of hyperactivity, was a little impish creature which I later discovered was named Ruptik. Before I could ask her name a dwarf approached and bowed low asking both of us if we had seen the villainous beast named Hogger. Ignoring the dwarf's rude interruption I bowed low to the lady, who introduced herself to me as Cildelin. I was again about to speak when the dwarf himself bowed low and spurted out, "Deciver at your service!"
I thought to myself, what kind of name is that? Dwarves surely have strange ways if they go about naming themselves in such a manner.
We soon discovered that we were all after the same bounty, and agreed that sharing in the spoils would be best than sharing in a poor fate. After clearing a few more gnoll camps and progressing deeper into the enclave we saw Hogger prancing about ordering his minions about. I waited for the opportune time (that is once he was more or less alone) and shouted out to him that his reign of terror had come to an end. This of course displeased him greatly and he was one me before I could punctuate my sentence with a challenging gesture.

Backed by my newfound companions we disposed of the beast in due time, without suffering any casualties. Victorious we each retrieved proof of our deed and I was about to suggest we return to the Lion Pride's inn for a little celebration, when both of my compatriots disappeared in a flash. Taken somewhat aback by such a prompt departure, I decided it would be just as good for me to return to Deputy Rainer and give him the good news. He informed me that the proof should be brought to Marshal Dughan and hat he would provide a proper reward. I thought, what a brilliant idea! I can deliver the news, and have some refreshments at the Inn. The marshal was overjoyed with the news, but informed me that what I had fought was only a vanguard of the gnoll invaders and that they for sure were on the verge of overrunning Westfall. Unsure of how such beast could pluck up such courage, Marshal Dughan requested I depart immediately and investigate the rumors. I mentioned to him that I had spoke to a guard in the Eastvale Logging camp who had made a reference to a man named Gryan Stoutmantle, who was looking to the defenses of Westfall. Dughan looked at me with a blank look saying he didn't know of such a man and that it must be something to do with a self appointed leader of a militant group.

I departed Goldshire soon after a quick drink and discovered as I entered Westfall a couple of farmers busying themselves trying to fix their cart. My memory flashed and I pulled out the deed I had picked off a Defias rouge's corpse. I asked the man his name and he introduced himself and his wife as Mr and Mrs Frulbrow. Overjoyed I handed the deed over and looked at the sheer delight on the man's face. He thanked me profusely and provided me with some of his choice pumpkins. I refused the reward saying I couldn't be burdened with such a heavy produce, and asked him if there was anything else I could do to help him and his wife. He mentioned having left his home in a hurry because of hooligans, and loosing his family heirloom in the process (it was a locket of some sorts). He also mentioned they had left without gathering any of the feed for poor old Blanchy (their draft horse) and that she was growing very hungry and decrepit. I said I would see what I could do, but had to first inquire of a man named Gryan Stoutmantle. Verna Furlbrow spoke up and said he could be found at a place named Sentinel Hill, and that he was the leader of the Westfall Militia that had took it upon themselves to organize the protection of the surrounding farmland. She mentioned that on the road to Sentinel Hill there was a small farm owned by Mr and Mrs Saldean and handed me a letter to give to Salma should I feel inclined to pause there for some pie.

I left the couple with thoughts of meat pie in my head and soon found myself speaking to Farmer Saldean who begged for help in getting rid of some strange mechanical abominations that were plaguing most of the farmsteads. I mentioned I was headed to Sentinel Hill and would inform Gryan Stoutmantle of their predicament. I went inside to deliver my letter and have a piece of pie and promptly proceeded to Sentinel Hill. Upon introducing myself to Gryan I offered my services knowing that little to no reinforcements from Stormwind would be forthcoming.

He informed me that he and his right arm, Captain Danuvin were suspicious of a potential alliance existing between the Defias gang and the gnoll invaders. He offered that if I wanted to make myself useful, clearing any mine or farm of the vile scum would help a lot in bringing prosperity back to Westfall. Excited at the prospect of showing my worth, I promised I would do my best to cleanse the land, and I would more than likely do this by starting west near the Furlbrow farmstead...

Goldshire - Damsels in Distress

Upon reaching Goldshire I immediately reported to Marshal Dughan. He had no information related to the Defias gang, but mentioned some concerns about the lack of raw ore being delivered to Stormwind due to reports of kobold activity. He asked me to investigate the Fargodeep and Jasperhold mines for any signs of the vermin and dispense justice wherever it was appropriate. Empowered by this I rushed to Fargodeep mine which was closest to Goldshire. Before reaching it I walked by a farmstead which I later found out was owned by the Stonefield family. I couldn't help but notice two women, Ma and Bernice, looking sullenly toward their cabbage field that stood in utter ruination. I asked Ma what had happened and she spoke of a vile boar that had somehow plowed through their field and reeked havoc. Abashed at the thought I took it upon myself to hunt the beast down and dole out swift justice.
Bernice, on the verge of tears, mentioned her locket which had been given to her by her deceased husband, had somehow been stolen from her. Moved to tear I vowed to do everything in my power to recover the lost trinket, just so I could see a smile on the woman's face. I soon discovered that the locket was likely to be found in possession of a kobold named Goldtooth who was hiding out in the Fargodeep mine. I thought to myself, how coincidental! I can kill two birds with one stone!
I pulled out my trusty mattock and waded through all the vermin into the depths of the mine shaft and found the vile perpetrator. After smashing the beast's head in, I checked his pockets and indeed found the precious locket. I returned triumphant to Lady Bernice and presented her the locket. Seeing her jump for joy was recompense enough, even though she insisted on giving me a pair of mittens she had crafted herself as repayment.
On my way back to Goldshire I was approached by a fellow named Remy "Two-times" who had noticed me interacting with Marshal Dughan. He pleaded with me to speak on his behalf about a potential new threat that was hurting the fishing guilds of Elwynn Forest. He claimed Murlocs were swimming up river and killing fish and harassing the populace of the Eastvale Logging Camp.
When I reported in to the Marshal he listened to my report but refused to send troops out east without a military report indicating a real threat.
So I took it upon myself to investigate the Eastvale Logging Camp. After all I was headed northeast to Jasperhold mine and this wouldn't take me much farther. Lo and behold the logging camp was under duress! Not only was the Murloc threat a serious one, but wild animals were rampaging the area, making it almost impossible for the loggers to collect their wood. I immediately jumped into action, culling the wild life in the area and helping loggers collect the much needed wood, and also recovered badges of scouts sent over to investigate the Murloc camps. The poor men must not have realized how ferocious these fish people can be.

At the camp, I also ran into a beautiful young seamstress named Sara who offered to replace my sweaty gray undershirt with a flashy red one if I collected a few bandannas from the Defias scum that plagued the farm to the south. She was so charming I could only nod and promptly rush south to see what I could do. To my delight, when I arrived at the Brackwell pumpkin patch, I not only found the place crawling with Defias scum, but smack in the middle of the field was the largest boar I had ever seen. It had a massive brass collar on it identifying it as the culprit of the rampage that had occurred at the Stonefield farm, and it seemed it was doing a fine job on the pumpkin patch also. The rogues seemed to delight in watching the whole process, and the farmers to whom this farm belonged to didn't seem to be anywhere in sight. After killing most of the thieves, I went about "chastising" the boar. In one of the thieves pocket I found a deed, that seemed to have been stolen from other farmers who, from the looks of it, were trying to relocate to Westfall. I decided I would return the deed to its rightful owners as soon as I found out where they were.

After running by Sara's home and gathering my new shiny red shirt (I also stole a kiss from her, which was worth more than the shirt's worth I would wager), I reported back to Goldshire. I informed Marshal Dughan that the Murloc threat was real, and that Jasperhold mine was also infested with the vermin. I asked him about the deed I had found and told me that I would more than likely find the Furlbrow couple just past the bridge into Westfall. It seemed that they had broken a cart wheel and had sent a request for help. I thought to myself, "this is a task for an esquire for sure!" But before I could run off the Marshal ordered me to report to Deputy Rainer at the Westbrook Garrison. Word had come to him that gnolls were running rampant in western Elwynn Forest. Not wanting to break the chain of command, I agreed and decided I would head on west as soon as I had caught a snooze at the Lion's Pride Inn...

Northshire Abbey - First Steps

It was with great anticipation and expectations that I found myself in front of Deputy Willem at Northshire Abbey. I had just finished my paladin training and was not only equipped with my new found abilities, but had managed to acquire a large wooden mallet that I would soon put to great use. Deputy Willem quickly informed me of a new threat arising in the region. A mysterious group of ruffians known as the Defias Brothehood had wiggled itself in our neighborhood and was up to no good.

I was so eager to go and dispense justice that I almost didn't notice the deputy mentioning off the cuff that I somehow needed to go and report in to Marshal Mcbride. Not wanting to overstep my boundaries I immediately ran to the chapel and reported for my duties. I was slightly disappointed when I found out that I was not to immediately engage the bigger threat to the city, but was to somehow go and clear out the surrounding area of the kobold infestation. They had somehow established a small base out of a mine shaft called Echo Ridge, not far from the abbey, and needed to be routed out. Oh well, orders are orders and after all I would still get an opportunity to test my mettle against these evil vermin.

After a few forays to Echo Ridge, I returned somewhat sullen to McBride, and shared with him how disappointed I was that my efforts at thinning the ranks of the kobolds seemed somewhat fruitless as more and more of them kept on coming out of the woodwork. He told me not to worry about it and focus on the Defias threat, and leave the vermin to newer recruits. Encouraged by his words I headed east to the Osworth vineyards to investigate the ruffians. After smashing a few heads in, I discovered that they were led by a burly miscreant named Garrick. After getting approval from Deputy Willem, I headed back to Garrick's hideout and called him out. I told him not to resist arrest, or he would get a taste of my holy wrath. He laughed at my face and came at me with two of his accomplices. I dealt swift justice and returned to Deputy Willem with evidence of justice being done. Sadly enough, we were not able to learn anything more about the Defias Brotherhood, which is probably why Marshal McBride sent me over to Goldshire to Marshal Dughan.

Surely he or someone in Goldshire would likely know something about this mysterious brotherhood...
